Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance has been delayed on the Nintendo Switch for an undetermined amount of time. It’s unclear exactly what the issue is, but there was apparently some kind of problem with the Nintendo Switch eShop that’s keeping Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance from releasing on the console. It will take “a few days” to fix the problem, and so those on Nintendo Switch will need to wait some time before they can play the game.

For those who missed the sudden announcement, Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance is a re-release of the classic PS2-era game, but with improved resolution. Besides the increased resolution, Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance is more or less a straight port, so fans shouldn’t expect any new bells and whistles like online, though they can still play the game with friends in local co-op.

The re-release of Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance came out of nowhere, but it has fans hoping that that it will usher in the release of other Snowblind Studios games. A re-release of Champions of Norrath: Realms of EverQuest seems to be pretty high up on the list of games that fans want to see, not to mention a re-release of Dark Alliance’s direct sequel, Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2. No such plans have been confirmed at the time of this writing, however.

It would make sense for a re-release of Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2 to come at some point, though. After all, a third game in the series is set to launch for multiple platforms in just over a month’s time. Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is the third game in the Dark Alliance series (technically a spiritual successor), developed by Tuque Games and coming to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms on June 22.

While fans wait for the launch of Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance, revisiting the original Dark Alliance game should be a good way to help pass the time. Hopefully Nintendo Switch gamers don’t have to wait too much longer to join in on the fun.

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance is available now for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, with a Switch version also in development.
